HURRICANE GUSTAV: LA EOC (Emer. Ops. Ctr.) Goes Down
09/01/08, 1:40PM PT - Good news! Looks like New Orleans escaped a direct hit by Gustav as the hurricane, now downgraded to a Cat-1, veered to the west of New Orleans. Althought Louisiana is not out of the woods yet, so to speak, the worst seems to be over and the levees appear to have held up to the storm surge. That said, this will be my last update to this page unless something major occurrs.
09/01/08, 3:47AM PT - So, I’m sitting here in Southern California working on my site, watching live coverage on CNN, MSNBC, the Weather Channel and listening to the live feed of the Louisiana Statewide EOC (Emer. Ops. Center) Comms and I just heard the command post let field units that they just lost power and the generator kicked on but then kicked off and that they are on back-up UPS power and don’t know how long they can stay operational.
