+ Man sentenced to 75 hours community service for having police scanner
The director of a church-security ministry in Virginia says he was treated unfairly by the Tallahassee Police Department when he was arrested three months ago on misdemeanor charges of having a police scanner and blue lights installed in his car.

A once-indispensable tool of police on patrol may soon be a relic of the past. With laptop computers rapidly gaining in popularity, the old-fashioned police radio may soon go the way of the horse-drawn paddywagon.  That’s bad news for folks who love listening to police scanners at home, but good news for law enforcement.
